viper fire supression systemHalon onboard fire suppression systemKeep it coolWe installed this onboard fire suppression system in the Viper ACR. Another requirement of most racing organizations is an onboard fire supression system. Usually, people just mount a fire extinguisher somewhere in their car and call it a day. Vipers are very space limited, forcing most owners to mount their extinguishers on the floor on front of the passenger seat. Not only does the extinguisher get kicked by the passenger when they enter and exit the car, but it is impossible to reach while harnessed in the driver's seat. That seemed to us to defeat the purpose of having an onboard system. We mounted the bottle to the battery box, allowing access and inspection through the service hatch. Very stealth. Two lines were run to supply the engine compartment and driver's side footwell. The engine compartment recieved two nozzles. We put the other nozzle in the driver's compartment and the release handle just behind the driver's left ear. The handle is easily accessible while strapped in while almost impossible to accidentally activate. This system uses a 5 lb Halon 1301 bottle which makes it legal for NASA and SCCA. We can build systems legal for any racing organization and to fit almost any vehicle. Call or email us for details.
